The Australian Mooney Pilots Association (AMPA) intend to hold a Mooney Pilot Safety Program (PSP) in late October / early November this year (exact dates will be adjusted for the best fit to attendee availability) and are seeking registrations of interest now.
This Mooney endorsed 3 day course will comprise both classroom and flying components. Participants are free to choose both components; or just the classroom part.
We are bringing to WA a team of Mooney experienced flight instructors, who are grade 1 instructors or CFIs with significant experience on Mooneys and are mostly CASA authorised testing officers.
The classroom curriculum has been refreshed and the course has been acknowledged by aviation professionals in the US as one of the best courses of its type anywhere. It is designed to allow you to fly a Mooney better and more safely. We are sure you will benefit from this course (even if you’ve done it before), and thoroughly enjoy it. The curriculum includes:
• Airspeeds & Limits – review
•Flight by the Numbers
• CASA Topic (was ops in non controlled aerodromes at last PSP)
• Weight, Balance & Performance
• Emergency Procedures
• Analysis of Mooney Accidents
• Practical Operations
• Human Factors
• Mooney Update – the latest news from the factory
• Avionics Upgrades
• GNSS updates, SBAS, vertical guidance etc..
• Aviation physiology
• Night Flying
• Mooney Maintenance
Day one is planned to be theory only; while days two and three split into two streams, with half flying, and half in the class room, over 4 sessions.
Costs are not yet firm but will be in the order of $700 for approximately 2.5 hours of flight instruction over two sessions plus the classroom component; or $400 for only the classroom part.
The PSP will be held over 3 days including the week end. Anyone who flies Mooneys will benefit from and enjoy this course.
Lunches and morning/afternoon teas will be arranged, as will a Course Dinner at a popular Perth restaurant.
