Designing websites to stuffing pillows: How our youngest pilot reached sky-high dream

Hayden Rogers may not legally be able to drive a car by himself yet but the 16-year-old can now fly a plane solo after becoming the youngest pilot in Australia.The Perth teenager celebrated his 16th birthday on Thursday by making his dream a reality after passing his recreational pilot licence flight test at the Royal Aero Club of WA.

Hayden, who started learning to fly at 10, said he wanted to become a pilot for as long as he could remember with the hope of one day working for a commercial airline.

The Australian Air Force Cadets member took his first solo flight in a Cessna 152two seater plane three days after his 15th birthday, completed his theory exam in May 2019 and has since racked up about 30 hours in the air, almost double the amount of hours required to pass the test.
