G1000 Training Resources
Members of RACWA have access to hire VH-ECU, the Cessna 172S Skyhawk equipped with the G1000 avionics suite. The aircraft itself is much the same as any other C172 apart from a couple of differences which we can point out to you on the ground. If you have previous G1000 experience, you are most welcome to have a quick chat with an instructor and fly the aircraft without the need for a check flight, assuming you meet all currency criteria. If you are unsure, please call and speak with an instructor.
If you haven't flown the G1000 system before, we recommend reviewing the following resources before contacting the club :

Watch the video online and flick through the manual. Make a time with an instructor where we will take you through the systems and the basic operation, then put that into practice on a PC simulator. Afterwards we can then take you for a flight to get the chance to use the system operationally. The time it takes varies from person to person. The objective is to remove the overwhelming factor this new system presents. If you don’t know what you are doing - your head will be inside the cockpit, not looking outside and this is where the danger lies. Spend the time on the ground and you'll be fine. So get together with some friends, share the ground briefing costs and have the true pleasure of flying this fantastic aircraft. You won’t regret it!
