Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate Course (AROC)

Formerly referred to as an Aircraft Radiotelephone Operator Certificate of Proficiency (AFOCP) before September 1 2014; now the Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC), is no longer designed especially for ground based operations utilising air band frequencies in communication with aircraft, but instead also encompasses the Flight Radiotelephone Operator Licence (FROL) that was (prior to September 2014) only required by pilots.

Examples of ground based operations of an aviation nature might include:

  • Operations personnel
  • HLO’s
  • Medics
  • UAV Operators
  • Ground service personnel
  • Aircraft engineers (LAME)
  • Weather Observers
  • Aerodrome reporting officers
